Use PICTURES: “Picture This”

When looking at books with your child, talk bout what’s on the page and label the various objects, pictures and people you see. Family photo albums are a fun way for children to develop vocabulary. While quickly turning through a friend’s pile of photographs, have you ever slowed down and spent a little extra time looking at yourself?  If so, you are: (A) Normal (B) Conceited.  Congratulations, the correct answer is “A” (and you are normal). Use pictures to elicit language. For example, show your child photos and ask:

  • “Who is in the picture?”
  • “Where are you in the picture?”
  • “What are you wearing in the picture?”
