Standing Alone

“Stand On Your Own Two Feet”

  • Use a standing position to remove your child’s coat. Hold the coat but not your child’s body.
  • Following a bath place your child in a standing position and dry with a towel, providing intermittent support or adjustment.
  • When your child indicates a desire to leave your arms, place your child in the center of a carpeted room, away from walls and furniture.
  • When your child is standing while holding onto a couch, present a toy that requires two hands to hold (e.g. a medium size ball).
