“Gut Check”

  • Sit on the floor and allow your child to lie face-up on your extended legs.  Bring your child’s feet up toward your chest, then quickly push them away, encouraging resistance.
  • As strength and balance build, prompt your child to stand on one foot for 2-3 seconds (allow your hands to be held).
  • As strength and balance build, use a sit-on scooter without side rails.
  • When appropriate, have your child climb up the slope of a slide (give guidance for safety).
